An absolutely unputdownable book!

Half of the world is infected by parasites that cause the human to change into horrific creatures with wings and claws – living nightmares. Marci is a teen hacker – one of the best in the country. When spying on a group known simply as IgNiTe, the shadowy spectres that have been lurking in her brain begin kicking up a storm, and it is then that Marci is told the truth, she is infected.

Welcome to my stop on the Ignite the Shadows blog tour, run by Xpresso Book Tours! Immediately I absolutely loved this book. It may actually be one of my favourites of 2015. It’s intense, gripping and everything you could possibly want in a science fiction story. I want to start off by mentioning the monsters, I won’t say too much about them because they are best read for yourself, but they’re scary and somehow feel incredibly real despite being terrifying creatures with wings and claws.

The story is set in our world, which makes it even more believable. It is paced very well and there’s tons going on – I guarantee you won’t be bored reading Ignite the Shadows. It has everything you could possibly want – science fiction, fantasy, realism, a touch of romance and plenty of action thrown in between. Sound amazing? That’s because it is.

At four hundred pages there’s plenty going on and the story flows seamlessly. There’s lots of interesting dialogue and I even found myself laughing a few times. I think that says a lot when a book can be scary at times as well as funny.

As for the characters, there’s a great mix. Marci is great, she’s a really strong character and she kicks butt. I always find female characters like Marci really interesting, she’s definitely not the damsel in distress, she fights for herself. James and Aydan are also characters that really fascinated me. They all have a great amount of depth and intrigue – you won’t find any one dimensional characters in Ignite the Shadows.

Ignite the Shadows is a book that is full of secrets, it dots little bits of information throughout the story and continually leaves you want more. While at times this can be frustrating, it just makes the ending all the more satisfying. I absolutely adored this book, and have added Ingrid’s other books to the top of my TBR list. You can check out the Morphid Chronicles (Which sounds amazing!) here!

That concludes my stop on the Ignite the Shadows blog tour, be sure to check out the rest of the stops for more information about the book, as well as interviews and excerpts!

As part of this tour Ingrid is also kindly giving away an ebook copy of the book and a $25 Amazon Giftcard, it’s open internationally and you can enter here!
