Genetically altered humans? Government cover-ups? Romance and mystery? Winning Glory has it all.
Glory is a genetically alter human, and she’s tired of the rules and regulations that surround her life. As events spiral out of control, Glory ends up a fugitive, on the run from those who would force her back into this regulated life. She is completely unprepared for the harsh winter of Minnesota, and struggles to survive in the stormy weather. Then she meets Roy Kincaid, CIA detective who has spent his career hunting rogue genetically altered humans – like Glory. As the two begin to develop feelings for each other, she has to pray he’ll never find out what she truly is.
Welcome to my stop on the Winning Glory blog tour, hosted by the lovely Bewitching Book Tours. Winning Glory is a new series by the best selling author of the Earth Reclaimed series (you can read a review of there here!) As soon as I saw this I knew I had to read it, and exactly like Earth’s Requiem it’s exciting, intense and full of romance.
Ann is steadily climbing my list of favourite authors, because everything I read by her is such a fascinating, gripping story. This one is no exception, a mixture of paranormal, science fiction and romance, it’s fast paced, never dull and from chapter one pulls you in. I was hooked from the beginning and just desperate to know what happens. The thing I like about Ann’s books is that while there’s plenty of romance and plenty of action, she never compromises the story for the romance scenes, or vice versa.
Immediately I loved Glory. She’s brave, determined and inquisitive, and just a really great character to watch develop. She has so many cool powers, I pretty much want them all. You immediately feel for her, all the pain and abuse she goes through with her handlers, you want her to succeed and have a normal life. Roy is great too, he’s brave and intense, but in a dark, mysterious kind of way. The two gel together very well and the romance elements of the story are very well put together.
As for the plot, it kept me coming back again and again. It reminded me a little of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse, but with way more action and romance thrown in. It’s definitely not your typical science fiction book, and I think that’s why I enjoyed it so much.
I thoroughly enjoyed Winning Glory, and can’t wait for book two in the series, I’m sure it will be just as exciting and intense as book one! Thank you for stopping by and make sure you check out the rest of the stops on the tour!!
