Starting tomorrow there’s a mini Magical Readathon happening. I’ve absolutely loved participating in these readathons and this will be one of the last in the current format due to the recent events regarding J K Rowling.  The lovely G at BookRoast has made a video discussing the future of the Magical Readathon which I wholeheartedly agree with, and I’m looking forward to participating in the mini readathon this week.

Due to the lockdown I am off work this week so I thought it would be a fun way to challenge myself to read as many books as possible. There are ten prompts and I’m hoping to get through quite a few of them!

1. Read a book with a map
Welcome to the world of the Grisha.

3. Start a read with a cup of tea

Pip Fitz-Amobi is not a detective any more.

5. Pink or green on cover or sweet/baked goods

7. Read a horror or thriller
Everyone knows the story of “the girl from Widow Hills.”

Strangers and friends, neighbors and rescue workers, set up search parties and held vigils, praying for her safe return. Against all odds, she was found, alive, clinging to a storm drain. 9. Book written by person of colour

It’s a chance for a better life for Negro girls like Jane. After all, not even being the daughter of a wealthy white Southern woman could save her from society’s expectations.

Almost finished with her education at Miss Preston’s School of Combat in Baltimore, Jane is set on returning to her Kentucky home and doesn’t pay much mind to the politics of the eastern cities, with their talk of returning America to the glory of its days before the dead rose. 10. Steampunk read

So those are the books I’m hoping to get to during the readathon. I doubt I’ll manage to get all ten read but at least I’ve given myself some different options depending on what takes my fancy. If you’re participating I’d love to know what you’re reading!
